2015 Shanghai MWC Event Highlights

2015 Shanghai MWC Event Highlights

The GSMA’s fourth annual Shanghai-based event, Mobile World Congress Shanghai, was a resounding success, exceeding  initial expectations of 35,000 attendees, exhibitors, speakers and press/analysts. In fact, MWC Shanghai 2015 was the GSMA’s largest-ever mobile industry event in Asia.

Under the theme of “Mobile Unlimited”, MWC Shanghai focused on how mobile technology – from connected cars and wearable tech to mobile payments and smarter cities – is revolutionising and enhancing every aspect of individuals’ lives.  (mwcshanghai.com)

I just returned from attending the event and was happy to see ADG client Eye Verify  as one of the belles of the ball. Eye Verify had great media coverage, and constant foot traffic due in large part to mobile operators, financial institutions, and other service providers demand for mobile based software only alternatives for passwords.

Other notable event happenings was the prevalent themes of security, online to offline, as well as wearables. Anything to do with biometrics in particular, was a very hot topic, including fingerprint, eye, and FIDO.  For the first time, FIDO seems to be moving past theory, and into real adoption.
